“Potter” Breaks Twilight’s Midnight Record

Deadline  has all the major numbers and figures, but the big story here is the astounding $43.5 MILLION gross of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 from last night’s midnight screenings. The previous record holder was Twilight: Eclipse, with $30 million. The 3D bump may have been a factor, but Warner Bros is expecting a huge take from the final Potter picture, and with positive word of mouth leading the mildly curious to buy tickets, the movie is on track to being the biggest hit of the year.
