Will Aaron Paul of “Breaking Bad” Join Bruce Willis In “Die Hard 5”?

When it rains it pours, and it’s been pouring Die Hard 5 news today. First up is an official title and release date. Mark your calendars, McClane fans: February 14th, 2013 will be your next chance to see Bruce Willis in action. The title? A Good Day To Die Hard. I guess that’s alright. I mean, at least it makes sense. Die Harder? What does that even mean?

The biggest news comes from Variety who have the shortlist of actors in contention to play McClane’s son. Drumroll, please…

The nominees are Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma), Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), and Paul Walker (Fast Five).

Out of all of those, Paul Walker is in the lead, since he’s the biggest star. But he’s going to be busy with Fast 6 and 7, which may be getting shot back to back, so he’s a longshot. Milo Ventimiglia is too pretty, and Paul Dano’s too wimpy, so it’s between Ben Foster and Aaron Paul. Paul is on fire right now after a stellar season of Breaking Bad, so my money’s on him. He could hold his own against Willis and, if the franchise is indeed passed down to him, he could shoulder the weight.

Rumor has it that McClane journeys to Russia to bail his ne’er-do-well son out of jail and that’s when the craziness ensues, and out of all the actors on that list, Aaron Paul is the one I see as a jail bird.

We’ll keep you posted as the story develops.
