Director Gavin O’Connor’s action crime thriller The Accountant is now available on DVD. CPA Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is hired by a robotics company to find a multi-million dollar discrepancy in their books. Upon arriving at the company he is introduced to Dana (Anna Kendrick) who has been tasked with assisting Christian. With high functioning autism Christian is a math savant, but severely lacks social skills. Undeterred, Dana continues to try and befriend Christian. After finding where and how the missing millions disappeared Christian inadvertently uncovers a shocking secret that places Dana at risk.
Growing up in a military family Christian was taught a unique set of tools which enables him to deal with some rather unsavory characters. Now with both the Treasury Department and a group of bloodthirsty mercenaries after him Christian must decide if he wants to disappear or stick around and fight.
If you are a fan of Jack Reacher or John Wick then I think you will really enjoy The Accountant. Personally, I think this is some of Ben Affleck’s best work. In another actor’s hands the inward stress and pain of autism may have been lost. However, Ben portrays the struggle with elegance and respect. This is one of those films that you need to watch twice. The first time for entertainment, and the second in order to see the breadcrumb trail that you missed the first time around. Don’t let the title fool you. There is nothing boring about The Accountant.
Rated R for language and strong violence. The Accountant is now available on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD. There are some great special features on the Blu-ray combo pack including a behind the scenes look at the unique fighting skills of Christian Wolff.
