Here’s a Look at Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows”

Celebuzz has photos of Johnny Depp on the set of Dark Shadows, the latest Tim Burton film, and…well….

OK, I’ll be honest, I just can’t get excited for anything by Tim Burton anymore. Let’s take a good hard look at his filmography, shall we? In the past 10 years he hasn’t made a single good movie, and all of them are remakes or adaptations of previous material. Big Fish is the closest thing he has to something good, and that’s the least Burton-esque of the lot. That’s gotta tell you something, right?

So I’m sure the trailer for Dark Shadows will have some cool images and weird angles followed by spirals and a patented Danny Elfman score that rehashes his Nightmare Before Christmas music for the zillionth time, but I have no interest in it.

I also have no interest in anything Johnny Depp does anymore. He’s increasingly relied on schtick instead of actually delivering a performance, and I think his work with Burton is strangling his career. Pirates 4 is a perfect example of how what worked and excited audiences back in 2003 has gotten old and familiar by now. The man needs a change of pace, and these pictures prove Burton ain’t it.

Dark Shadows hits theaters May 11, 2012.
