First look at Nina Bergman In Steven Kostanski’s ‘Deathstalker’ Fantasy Film Starring Daniel Bernhardt
Actress Nina Bergman (Hell Hath No Fury, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Cold Meat) joined the fantasy film ‘Deathstalker’ in the role of Grendul, with Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick, Extraction, The Matrix Reloaded), who stars in the lead role of Deathstalker.
Bergman’s character, Grendul, is a confident, tough leader of the Abraxeon Thieves Guild who has a history with Deathstalker. The story focuses on Deathstalker (Bernhardt), the barbarian who becomes cursed by a magical talisman that draws him into conflict with a malevolent wizard and a clan of monstrous assassins.
Written by Steven Kostanski (The Void, Leprechaun Returns, PG: Psycho Goreman), who will also direct, ‘Deathstalker’ is a remake with a new vision for the fantasy universe of the popular Roger Corman-produced sword and sorcery franchise series with a greater emphasis on exploring the fantasy setting with creative monsters. The new ‘Deathstalker’ film just finished shooting in Canada. Also distributing in Canada, Raven Banner will handle international sales.
‘Deathstalker’ is being produced by Hangar 18 Media by producers Pasha Patriki, Avi Federgreen, and Michael Paszt, with executive producers Andrew Thomas Hunt, James Fler, Josh Viola, and Peter Kuplowsky, alongside Slash of Guns N’ Roses and Rodrigo Gudiño of BerserkerGang Films. Additional executive producers include Michael Vasicek, Max Hensgen, Kevin Dickel, and Dave McGrath. Raven Banner is handling worldwide sales.
Kostanski’s reboot focuses on the fantasy setting, utilizing creature suits, prosthetic FX make-up, and stop-motion animation from his Action Pants FX shop, which recently completed work on upcoming horror-comedy ‘Frankie Freako,’ also being sold by Raven Banner at Cannes.
In addition to the new film, a ‘Deathstalker’ graphic comic book series, created in partnership with Vault Comics, Slash of Guns N’ Roses, and Raven Banner Entertainment, along with writer Tim Seeley, artist Jim Terry, colorist Kurt Michael Russell, and writer-director Steven Kostanski, was released in March 2024 and sold out in under a week. The comic bridges the original movies and the new film.
Known for her intense lead performance as Marie DuJardin in ‘Hell Hath No Fury,’ opposite Daniel Bernhardt, Timothy V. Murphy, Dominique Vandenberg, Louis Mandylor, Charles Fathy, and Josef Cannon, with directing by Jesse V. Johnson, Bergman most recently co-starred as Ana in ‘Cold Meat,’ opposite Allen Leech (Downton Abbey, Bohemian Rhapsody), with Yan Tual (Outlander), directed by Sébastien Drouin, and she can now be seen in the new spy thriller ‘Chief of Station,’ starring Aaron Eckhart, which also stars Alex Pettyfer, Olga Kurylenko, Nick Moran, Chris Petrovski, Daniel Bernhardt, James Faulkner, Laetitia Eido, and Isobel Wood, with directing by Jesse V. Johnson, which hit theaters May 2024.
Nina Bergman is represented by Buchwald, Atlas Artists, and CESD Talent Agency, with publicity managed by Studio Matrix.
