All year long I’ve been hearing fantastic and amazing things about Attack the Block, and I’ve been drooling in anticipation, hoping it would hit a theater near me. Well, the wait is finally over.
/Film has the details on the film’s release, including this synopsis:
From the producers of Shaun of the Dead, ATTACK THE BLOCK is a fast, funny, frightening action adventure movie that pits a teen street gang against an invasion of savage alien monsters. It turns a London housing project into a sci-fi battleground, the low-income apartment complex into a fortress under siege. And it turns a crazy mix of tough street kids into a team of kick ass heroes. It’s inner city versus outer space and it’s going to explode.
Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim vs The World are some of the most inventive, heartfelt, action packed, and just plain awesome movies of the last decade, and I think director Edgar Wright is an insanely important voice in contemporary cinema. He produces this time around while his second in command Joe Cornish makes his directorial debut.
Attack the Block is receiving enormous acclaim from all corners and is a strong contender for Best Picture this year. When it hits shelves on October 25th, you should really check it out.
